Cruise Lines Have Yet to Alter or Cancel Any Cruises to Cuba

While national security adviser John Bolton announced new travel restrictions to Cuba, no cruise lines have yet to alter or cancel any cruises to the Caribbean nation.

Yesterday, the Trump administration announced new travel restrictions to Cuba. The biggest change is that travel will be restricted for nonfamily travel to Cuba. However, it is important to note that no new regulations have actually been issued at this time.

Cruise Fever reached out to all leading cruise lines inquiring about their future cruises to Cuba. Here is what each one had to say.

Royal Caribbean – “We have not altered any of our sailings at this time.”

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings- “We are closely monitoring recent developments with respect to US-Cuba travel. At this time no new regulations have been issued and accordingly, the Company’s itineraries which include Cuba as a destination will continue as scheduled.”

Virgin Voyages – “At this time there are no changes to travel policies for cruises sailing to Cuba. We will continue to monitor Cuba travel policies and we will update our Sailors if there are any changes.”

Carnival Corporation – Cruise Fever has not yet heard back from Carnival Corporation regarding cruises to Cuba.  However, Carnival Cruise Line’s Brand Ambassador John Heald posted the following message: “We are still evaluating this announcement, but have not made any changes to our itineraries. Booked guests will receive a communication if their itinerary is impacted.”

Fathom was the first cruise line in decades to receive permission from the U.S. Government to sail cruises to Cuba. Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, and Norwegian Cruise Line received approval shortly after.  Now, just about every cruise line has permission to cruise to Cuba.

In May 2016, Adonia was the first cruise ship to visit Cuba from the United States in 50 years.

Cruise Fever will continue to monitor this new announcement about travel restrictions to Cuba and will have any changes to cruise itineraries if/when they are announced.
